Subject: Re:Start-up engine speed - by: FJFan find another dealer... Subject: Re:what up peeps - by: FJFan welcome to the site... Subject: Re:mice in cabin - by: fatback I think that a simple solution would be to put out glue traps or just get some damned poison and put it in the areas where you think they are getting in. I do not have this problem and live near woods and corn fields....
My 2 cents... Subject: Re:Start-up engine speed - by: HercMech Hey Guys,
Mine is the same! I was concerned at first but I'm at 66 000 KM and the motor still sounds/runs the same.It gets REAL cold up here in Manitoba in the winter(-35c). I think the fact that the idle is constant as opposed to revving up and down makes it OK to spin that fast at start up.... Subject: Re:Start-up engine speed - by: Geezer w/FJ Yeah, I wondered about that myself. My FJ revs up to about 1100rpm at startup and stays there for a coupla minutes. Makes me kind of nervous on a cold northern Indiana morning. I change my own oil and have been using a full synthetic 00wt20 these past two winters. I never hear any valva clatter on startup in even the coldest of days and the 6cyl. seems to warm up faster....check it out, it may ease your mind.... Subject: Re:Start-up engine speed - by: cruzrman Take it to another dealer. That's crazy.... Subject: Start-up engine speed - by: Searcher My FJ upon start-up goes straight to 1500 RPM! My dealer's mechanic says it's a factory thing designed to get the motor warmed up as quickly as possible for emmisions purposes. This can't be good for a motor at any temp let alone the kind we get here in N. Illinois, and I hate it. Any ideas on what a mechanically inclined guy like myself can do about this before I start poking around under the hood myself?... Subject: Re:revtek - by: cruzrman This is a spacer based lift which will place considerable pre-load on your front coils resulting in a prety stiff ride.
It'll accomplish the desired result, but I'd say, save up and get a quality purpose built system such as Old Man Imu.Their experience with Toyota suspensions is unparalled. If you do go with the Revtek , you won't be able to get the alignment back to spec. w/o aftermarket upper control arms. That will apply to any kit you use....
