Hello all, I dont have an fj yet, i am in the market for one. I wanted to get some feedback from owners about it so i know im making the right choice. We used to have 2 land rover discoverys. We had sold them, and had bought an isuzu vehicross. They were all great off roaders. Each had their strengths and weaknesses. But the common weakness was fuel economy. The landrover got about 300 miles to the tank, but it also had a 24 gallon fuel tank. The vehicross came with i believe a 3.90 gear ratio, and a 22 gallon tank. So every 200-250 miles, another $40 in gas. I traded the vehicross in and got a pontiac trans am when gas hit $5 a gallon. I normally get 25 mpg, and have a work commute of 40 mins, mostly around 60mph. It's got a 16 gallon fuel tank, and around 250 miles or so, ill put $25 into the tank and almost be full. The big thing for me right now is fuel economy. I'll be moving soon and be closer to my work, only 15 mins away, but my question is, how is the fuel economy for you all? I plan to put a snorkle on it at some point, along with some long tubes. I have a corvette c5 i'll be trading in for it, as i recently got married and want something for a family sometime down the line. So what would you all say about real fuel economy on the truck?

If you are looking for something good on fuel, don't buy an FJ! Don't get me wrong, I love mine! But they are purpose built and fuel economy is not the purpose!!

I also LOVE my FJ, but the mileage is not the greatest. I get about 19 mpg on a normal basis. I have a 2008 and it has over 42,000 miles on it now. I plan on keeping it until it dies. I've had so much fun with this cruiser. I've taken mine through California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona. Very reliable... even in the most remote locations! Good luck with your search! ~Bob
