Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in the coastal Bend area of Texas and just bought a new FJ 2WD in Voodoo Blue. I got it pretty well loaded up, except for the leather seats ( it's going to be our "Beach Buggy"). If you are not familiar with Texas beaches, most are well driven and only the farthest reaches require 4WD.
I also have 2006 Jeep Unlimited Wrangler for the aforementioned far reaches, and previously owned 2 Xterras.
My wife is also an FJ fan and has wanted one from the introduction of the model.
The few "drawbacks" mentioned for the FJ have not been an issue with me, such as "blind spots" and rear seat access, so I am very happy with the Cruiser.
It came with the trailer hitch amd harness, so it's ready for towing the boat.
Mostly it's just a heck of a lot of fun to drive!
Both the FJ and my Jeep are "keepers" as far as I'm concerned, and I don't usually jump to a new vehicle so quickly.
I would be glad to talk with other owners about features, performance and other topics, especially Texas owners, as we intend to make more than a few road trips in it to the hill country, Big Bend and other areas of the state.
My other intrests are acoustic guitar and I am a member of the "Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum", "Larrivee Forum", "Acoustic Player Forum", "Gibson Forum" and probably some others.
My wife and are both RNs, and I work in a Regional Trauma Center, as an Emergency RN. Would be intersted in talking also with others from the field who own or are interested in FJs.
It's great to be here with you folks, see you around the Forum.
Brian

Welcome. It sounds like you are a pretty busy guy! I'd love to be able to drive on the beach, but around here, it's considered "evironmentally destructive". Not to mention, most of our beaches are rocks.
How is the fuel milage on the 2wd? They aren't available up here. Just wondering if it's really that much better?
