I was thinking of putting these rock rails, but their only purpose to the protect the body when you off-road. I hear they don't act as side-steps. Does anybody have links to cool side steps available for the FJ?

Here is what the OEM running boards look like. I have not seen them on any of the mail order sites, but they are frequently for sale on eBay as take-offs for around $400 plus shipping. Just do a search for "FJ Cruiser running boards".

How-DEE! I've got some running boards / side steps / step rails (or whatever you want to call the factory step things that get in your way) that I can't wait to get rid of. I'd love a pair of those sweet looking nerf bars / rock rails. I need a pair that's out of the way since I don't need or want a step, and also tough enough to protect the rocker panels when they end up supporting one side of the FJ on a rock. That's what the old school 4-wheelers originally designed them for, but so many of them now are just for looks, and made very flimsily... is that a word? So... anyone who's seen or messed with the nerf bars / rock rails that are out there, please let me know which ones are tough enough to protect my baby. Thanks!

Oh!... and my running boards are for sale or trade in the Sacramento (Placerville), California area. If interested, email me at ke_millard@yahoo.com. We'll talk.
