On a previous post I related a story about my experience with a new product known as CA-40 used by farmers in the midwest to get a more efficient fuel burn out of diesel and gasoline-powered farm equipment.
I used CA-40 for about 3 months with success until my 2007 FJ cruiser began experiencing too lean issues, stalling and engine lights appearing.
This stuff has broken down in my fuel tank and completely clogged my fuel filter screen and fuel pump. Toyota even wants to replace my tank and clean all my fuel injectors as a result.
I have contacted my insurance company and they will be handling most of this under my $100 deductible comprehensive vehicle policy.
It should be noted that although this additive may work in both diesel and regular gas applications, it is not designed to work in todays gas powered fuel-injected vehicles.
As a result of my experience with this product, I intend to bring a lawsuit against the makers of CA-40 claiming false and misleading advertising.
DO NOT USE CA-40 in any of your gasoline engines. It is not designed for this despite its claims.
Shame on them.

It is pretty obvious that fuel additives for farm equipment are not meant for fuel injected on-road vehicles that require premium fuel, thanks for raising everyone else's insurance rates and for wasting our justice department's time with your suit against CA-40. You might want to invest in some beachfront property in Arizona while you're at it.

O.K. Moron, you win with your 102 posts to my 50 some. I'll bet you and others of your ilk like to get on these sites to get your rocks off. I was merely pointing out to other owners not to get sold on something that actually works in certain applications.
CA-40 also claims identical results for gasoline driven engines (both catalytic and fuel injected) so don't go off on me that way when you don't know who you're dealing with in the first place.
It ain't just and anyone could have stepped into this pothole like I did. Fortunately, I'm only out the hundred clams and learned a little lesson for the trouble + the 40 bucks I'll be getting back from CA-40.
The makers of CA-40 are leading a false and misleading advertising campaign that I would like to see halted before another asshole like yourself gets stuck out in an ice pack somewhere in the outback of Vancouver!
As for the lawsuit, I think I'll drop it. I already spoke with one of their techs via phone and had him on his heels. It's not the money, it's the principle. Apparently they don't have many where you come from.
Sayonara and please don't write back

As a Professional Mechanical Engineer, I get my rocks off by taking care of my FJ and by helping other FJers take care of theirs. Someone who goes into the wilderness unprepared is sure to find at least one asshole when he gets there.
