Great news about the power increase. Now that you've used it a little - how about the mileage?

Did you do it yourself - if so how long did it take and which model CAI did you use - the dry filter or wet?

Thanks!

I'm still on my first tank but it's looking to be around 23mpg.Thats with pushing the peadle threw the floor board. I went with the stage 2 wich is a wet filter. The response, and sound is great. It took around 35min and the fit and finish leaves nothing to be disiered. The FJ feels at home with the mod and makes everyday driving much more enjoyable.

That sure sounds like a no-brainer to me. Toyota can't get too upset with it since I understand AFE makes the TRD branded intake.

I appreciate your come back - now I'm getting anxious to get mine.

I installed an AFE Stage 2 CAI earlier this week. The install was very easy and the quality of the parts is high. The primary reasons I chose AFE are that it maintains the stock air inlet position, uses a plastic rather than metal tube and the filter is boxed. The change in performance is evident. I don't have a dyno, but it feels like power is up (not dramatically - but noticeably) evenly over the RPM range. At idle, engine noise is not noticeably louder, but as the engine winds (>2K RPM) it develops a nice throaty growl building to a loud roar at max revs. When cruising at highway speeds (again, below 2K RPM) engine noise is not much different from stock, however accelerating produces decibels - especially if you are dropped into a lower gear. I haven't run a full tank though the truck since install the kit so I don't have a reliable MPG impact yet. Besides, my mileage is probably low now as I've been prone to punching the pedal and being rewarded with the great engine tone

I just installed the AFE CAI & saw noticeable gains in performance. I'm still working on my first tank, so no input on the MPG yet. BTW...AFE makes the TRD intake for Toyota, the only difference is the stamping on the aluminum plate on the Air Box! I'm VERY PLEASED with mine!
