Ok so you guys are awesome and have been a real help in helping me decide if I should get the FJ. Now hopefully my final question, I used to have a 99 4 Runner and it was supposed to pull 5000 lbs. It did it but it pull like crap. going up any hills at all was brutal. I'm currently trailering with an 2001 BMW X5 4.4i which pulls like you wouldnt belive. My Question is What can I expect the trailering to be like with an FJ, I have a Malibu Ski boat that weighs just over 4000lbs dry. I mean I dont expect the FJ to be able to perform like the X5( I can pull out and pass with the boat behind and hit 160km/h or 100mp/h in a heart beat). Do you think the FJ would be adequate for towing such a boat. I know its rated for 5000lbs but "rated" means sweet bugger all to me know since the 4 Runner.

Thanks Again

I have towed a few different trailers with mine. My little one with the dirtbikes is hardly noticeable. My buddie's 18 ft tent trailer was about the same. Then I towed a LWB Suzuki a few hundred km's on a trailer. That weighed close to 5000 lbs. There was some mountains involved (which I'm assuming you don't need to deal with )

It towed it fine. I even passed cars on the hills. Just watch your side-winds. That makes it a bit squirrelly.

Sounds like you know a bit about Sasky. Hey now there's that one hill, . Ok well if you can tow that Suzuki and pass on a hill I can without a doubt pull my boat across the prairie.

Thanks again

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention. From what I understand, the manual transmission towes way better than the auto. Mine's the 6 speed manual.
PS...I'm in Victoria BC...and I've been to Sask.

Yeah I'm not a manual transmission kind of guy.

I ordered the car today, I got the 2008 FJ in Iceberg White loaded right up. Looking forward to taking delivery unfortunately that may take a while.
