I'm buying an FJ in the very near future... tell me what options / accessories are a must!! And, the best place to get after market accessories!!
FYI -- I'm not a big off-road person, but I like the off-road style.

It really depends on what YOU want. I am quite happy with my base model. It has the only thing I NEEDED. The electric locking rear diff. Everything else is just bonus.

I got mine with every upgrade and mine will very rarely see mud as it is primarily an advertising instrument for my real estate brokerage.
I got every single option they offered just because it all looked good

When I bought mine, it was the only one at the dealership (early May of '06). It has just about every option with the exception of rock rails and an alarm. The salesman said that the people who had been looking at it thought that it was too well equipped, and thus too expensive.
I figured that at my age why should I deny myself the luxury of purchasing a vehicle that I really want, that happens to be loaded with options? I know a few people who keep telling me that I was foolish for paying MSRP for a car that will be marked down by next year. I tell them that it was damn worth it for me to be the first one in my town to own a FJ Cruiser, and a loaded one at that.

When you say base model do you really mean with no options. I live in SC and my dealer told me that I have to at least have the convenience package in order for them to take delivery of the vehicle in the South East. I can neither special orders or place a build through the dealership. I confirmed this on Toyotas website by chatting with a specialist. If yours doesnt have the conv. pack on it how did you get it and where do you live.
Thanks for your help
