I'm a bit of a pack rat. I have lots of stuff lying around.
I finished my camping trip. The rack was a success! 775 km mostly on very rough high-country roads. It survived, but I do want to lower it a bit by cutting the upright part, and shortening it. I was in a bit of a rush, and didn't think about the overall height after the gear was installed.
I also have plans to build another for my little dirbikes. It will sit much lower, but same idea. I'll post pics of that when it's done, too.

I could have used that a couple of weeks ago...Ran out of room inside and up top, so I had to have my friend stow the beer cooler in his Ford. Not that big of a deal except that they got into the beer before I arrived to the rally point.

Glad to hear that the rack was a success. It must be nice to be that handy and mechanically inclined. If I were to try something like that, it would probably look like a modern art masterpiece.

The problem with getting your buddy to carry the beer in his Ford, is there is a high probability that the Ford will break down, and you won't have any beverages.

Ryan, there might be a market here on the site for these racks, and possibly one ebay too! Might help towards future FJ mods....

That may be true, but I'm sure shipping would be crazy from Canada.
