OK, I'm real surprised I haven't been able to find a thread on this forum yet. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

So, I'm sure all of you are aware of the inner fender bulging/ripping issue by now. I have a couple questions for the dealer. I had my bulges documented back on Dec. 12th. I took it in and they took a look at not only mine, but a fellow club member's rig as well. Mine is the original fenders and his is the set of fenders that were replaced after his first set ripped. When he came out with the documents to sign, he only wanted to document the driver's side as it was the only one that was very noticeable. But if you take a straight edge to the passenger side, it becomes clear that it is also bulging. If I don't get the passenger side documented before my 36k is up, will it still be covered once it's time to fix it? Or do I need to go back and insist that they document it? I have no idea how long it's going to take Toyota to find a real fix for this, but the replacement fenders are NOT the fix. As my friend's new fenders are also bulging now.

Also, is there any word about how they are going to procede? Are they going to make this a recall?

This is a link to the "Blue forum". The first post is Bernd. One of the first documented cases. His ripped down both sides. The post of the Voodoo Blue with slight bulges is mine. At 22,000 miles I had no bulges. I checked my rig on Nov. 23rd after a run to Brown's camp and had no bulges. A week later after no wheeling, I had bulges. I had them documented on the 12th. Easiest way to check for them is to go to the inner fender, right in front of the hood shock mount and put a straight edge to the flat part of the inner fender, right where the two crumple zones are. It should be flat. Before Nov. 23rd, I could take a 12" straight edge to the fender and it was dead flat. Not anymore.

I have small bulges. They have never gotten any worse. I wheel mine pretty hard. I'd insist they document it.
I'm not overly concerned about mine. If they will fix them for free, great. If not, well, it's not really a structural part, so no biggie. If it starts to rip after the warenty is done, I'll just let it flex where it wants to flex.
