I've used Mobil 1 in 3 vehicles after 1000 mi.of break-in with a petroleum based oil.No oil causes leaks,All 3 vehicles had improved gas mileage and revved up to 300RPM more before upshifting.I'm a believer.

I'm running 5W-30 as Toyota recommends. The temperature range for this viscosity is something like -30 to +140 degrees centigrade. You'll find that info in your owner's manual. As far as the diffs., I would also run whatever Toyota recommends. To my knowledge, the fact that the lubricant is synthetic does not mean a change in viscosity is called for.I hope that helps.
