Biggest complaint for me is likely the noise from the exhaust. I don't notice it much anymore but anyone I take in it for the first time points it out. At low speeds when you accelerate I hear more noise from the back then I do from the engine.

Am I missing some soundproofing or is this common?

I do agree that they need wing vents in the rear compartment, I say that is my only complaint. I'd be curious if they are going to offer rear door options in the future. I had a '66 with a swing up window and two lower swing out doors, my '77 had the ambulance doors.

First off let me say, yes that wonderful noise you hear out the back is supposed to be there. If it annoys you then definately stay away from the exhaust upgrade.

One complaint that no one has mentioned yet and maybe it's because they drive alone or have a tall wife is the hight of the passenger seat. My wife is 5'3" and she can barely see over the dash. I am going to pull the seat and put spacers in to raise it about 2.5".

I also agree about the visors not so sure about the windows, the visibility could be better but convex mirrors really help on the rear views. It is hard to get 4 people out of the FJ if you are parked with cars on either side.

But OMG poeple the bennies far outweigh the little problems. I just had a brushguard installed, picking it up tonight.

The purpose of the exhaust is to baffle and carry the noise of the engine out the rear of the vehicle. If you hear more noise from the engine than exhaust, you have issues...

I've been in a lot of vehicles and never heard the muffler from inside my vehicle as if it's mounted hard against the floor of my rear compartment. It's not like the window is open, this is inside the passenger compartment.

Heck, my friends H3 doesn't have any similar noise.
