It might sound crazy to some of you, but how hard would it be to remove the chrome badges (i.e. "Toyota" "FJ Cruiser" & toyota symbol) on the rear door without damaging the paint? What technique would you use?
I removed the decal from the local dealership using a hair dryer to heat it up first and you can still see the outline even though it's a new vehicle...I don't want to have that if I remove the chrome badges too.

I have removed the adhesive residue with a Citrus Cleaner. Be careful about the highly concentrated products, but with the typical cleaner found at the grocery I had no paint damage.

This may sound crazy but I know it works on pine sap. Use some peanutbutter on your finger and gently massage the area around the sticker. With pine tar/sap it hardens the stuff and makes it come right off with your fingernail. Then wash with mild detergent. Not sure if it will work on the sticker residue but I'm 100% certain it works on Pine sap.

As far as actually removing the badges, most manufacturer appliques are applied with a foam tape. Take a piece of waxed dental floss ( it is lubricated by the wax) about 2 feet long and work it back and forth through the back of the badge pulling slightly out as you use the floss to saw through the backing. I have removed several chevy and ford emblems from pickup truck tailgates this way. Then just remove the remaining adhesive like others have suggested. I myself like Goo Gone which is a citrus bases remover.
