My friend Luc is a machinist, welder and artist. We will build a bumper/bar to protect the front of my new FJ. I was just wondering if someone has ever done that and if someone has an example of the brackets we need to build to attach the bumber bar to the frame. Basically I need to know where to attach to the frame and how. Thanks in advance for you replies

Sounds like a question Runner Ryan would have the answer to.

Are you talking a bar to protect the stock plastic bumper, or build a bumper from scratch?
The front bumper (the steel part under the plastic) is held on by 4 bolts on each side. Most aftermarket bumpers bolt to these same bolts. When you remove your plastic bumper, you will see how easy it is to attach something here.
I'd love to see the finished pics...
