Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has found a convenient path to the roof for wiring lights, inconspicuously .I'm fabricating a custom front rack attachment similar to a Nissan Exterra with 4 55w lights. I would prefer to route directly to engine compartment as I am using a rc unit for control.

Hi, I found the Gobi roof rack install pdf.which offered some ideas, mainly pillar disassembly.I was a little leery about that considering the airbags. The unit is nearly finished. I'm doing the "bodywork" now and working out the best mounting solution. This is a great site. Found all the info I've needed so far.Take care

Yep. There are a few companies offering roof lighting, and they explain how to route the wiring. I seem to remember one site saying there is wiring that goes to one of the blank switches on the center dash panel. There are also fuse locations for "offroad lights" under the hood. All you need is the switch and the fuses and a small amount of wiring to connect to the dash wiring.
I haven't looked into it, as anything mounted to my roof would be ripped off by all the low branches we get around here. Just tore off my radio antenna for the 3rd time last weekend. Dented the fender and windshield pillar in the proscess.

Yeah, after going to Trinity County rallying my FJ on the dirt roads (esp. the north eats part of Trinity Lake), I realize the the two IPF lights on my ARB Bull Bar is not enough to luminate our camping ground at night.
So I look forward to knowing how I can add additional lights on top of my factory roof rack.
I'm thinking of getting that Adventure Rack from Garvin and adding 4 lights in front. Now that would shine our campground the next time I'm in the boons.
