Hi all. The husband is looking at bull bars for the fj to install FOG LIGHTS (vs driving lights). He wants to know if any of you have any preferences on the following:
Aries or Westin? Aries about $100 cheaper and wondering if same quality? We really want black stainless powder coated, but seems you can't find black powder coated stainless only polished stainless for the bull bars. So if anyone has either could you let us know your thoughts and how is it holding up? Or does anyone have one from another company that is comparable?
Fog lights: does anyone use fog lights on their bull bar? I need fog lights not driving lights due to my area/driving conditions middle of the night, early morning driving times. What kind/wattage do you recommend? Also, anyone do the install themselves? Any probs or tips for the husband? He doesn't type and will read the posts. Thanks for your help.

Are you keeping the stock bumper? I don't know how much the light bars are, but there are quite a few aftermarket bumpers out there that have light mounting points, AND makes the truck look a whole lot better. And if you do have some issues with the fog, will provide a bit more protection than the stock plastic bumper. Mine's from Allprooffroad. There are countless others like ARB, WARN, to name a few. The holes in the bumper are actually for winch access, but you could mount lights in there if you wanted. The bar where my jack is mounted is actually meant for the lights. They sit right in front of the "TOYOTA" part.

VERY NICE! Mine's black too and I think it is the best color! Anyway, yes, for now keeping the stock bumper. I would love an all metal one such as yours but for now we just do mostly 'light' off roading (prob more after paid off tho) so trying to get one that will last thru our winter road crap (salt, rocks, etc) and allow me to add fog lights. I really would like the lights down lower than the headlights. Did you replace your rear bumper w/metal one too? I liked the look of those too...Thanks again for help/picture. What kind and size of tires are those? Kool....

I still have the stock rear bumper, but I painted the silver parts all black. I haven't found a rear bumper I like yet. Most of them look like full diapers. My truck in that pic has the OME 3" lift, Allprooffroad front bumper and sliders. The tires are 285/70/17 Goodyear MT/R's. They measure to be almost 33". That's about an inch taller, and an inch wider than stock. I have seen light bars for stock bumpers, but I just can't remember where. They put the lights just a hair under the stock headlights, in front of the grille. I don't know about the rules in your area, but here, all lights must be below the stock headlights, unless they are covered and for off-road use only. If I find the site with the light bars, I'll post a link.......

Yes, if you think of the site and can post, that would be great! just want to get something that doesn't break the bank, but will last w/o looking crappy in couple winters! I have the same size shoes on mine, just t/a's~had to find an aftermarket tire cover cause the size for the spare! the husband is considering the 3" lift too (i will need a ladder to get in then). how does the lift affect the ride on pavement? thanks again.
