What are the recommended tire inflation pressures for the standard tires? What inflation pressure did you find works best? Does anyone have any experience towing with the standard tires - if so - what inflation pressure have you found the best?

I don't have the stock tires on mine, but it's easy to find what the best pressure is. First, it will say the max pressure on the side of the tire. I could be wrong, but it may have been 35 psi. You can start there. I just drive through some dusty gravel, then drive on the street. If the tire is rubbed clean only in the center of the tread, release some pressure. If the tread is clean all the way accross, you can try adding some pressure untill it's just reaching the edge of the tread.
As for towing, (depending on the weight of the trailer) it's probably best to be in the upper level of the max pressure.

I'm running mine at the Toyota-recommended 32 psi (stock tires and wheels) per the tag in the driver-side door frame and have done some towing with it. Towing a stock trailer weighing around 1500 lbs (estimated), there was no problem with control or braking and it didn't wander around on the road. I've really been impressed at how well the FJ tows. Not sure how much you're planning to tow, but 32 psi works well for me and my loads. Hope that helps!

When I am doing road/highway driving I go with the tire recommendation of 35 psi versus the 32 psi recommended in the manual. This seems to be a little better on the MPG and handling. Off road I go down to at most the 32 psi.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

For offroading, you must go much lower to get any real gains. For the stock tire, 20 or 15 psi is good. On the tires I have now, I'll go to 10 psi. The tires I have on my 4Runner (38.5/14.50/15's at the moment) I would go to 6 psi, but then beadlocks are almost needed.
