Hi, my name is Maureen and I have been waiting for a month for the delivery of my FJ cruiser. I have been told it should be here this week. I have been reading all the comments on the site and found it helpful and interesting. I feel like the dealer has been giving me the run around with everything but the date the FJ is being delivered.thanks and wish me luck.

Month is not bad really. Getting what you want is a big problem. The different toyota distributors are loading up the FJ's with all kinds of packages (port installed) up to $2,700 of stuff wheather you want it or not. It just means more profit for both the distributors and the dealer. For the most part the Dealer can stop the port installed options if he wants to satisfy a sold order but greed sometimes wins.
The FJ's are built in Japan so things like side curtains; upgrade packages are allredy installed before it gets to port.

Hi Moe and welcome to our community,
Your story is far too common. Have you had a chance to look for a similar vehicle elsewhere in stock and is your deposit refundable?
I'll be glad to check with my connections about the supply in your area.
I got the run around with the delivery date at my dealer too. I found another FJ I wanted at another dealer and called the dealer I ordered the first FJ from that I wanted to cancel and wanted a refund of my $1,000.00 deposit because they were dishonest with the delivery dates and didn't provide good customer service among other things. After getting the run around from the sales manager and told to call back on Monday, the GM of the dealership was on the phone with me, he of course passed the buck when possible, was generally ignorant of his employees actions, and was very apologetic and sincere about my situation.
Within an hour or so of that a salesperson called me back and said my FJ was on a truck and would be delivered to the dealership within 30 minutes. If anyone at the dealership had cared that much in the first place the whole incident would have been avoided.
The sales manager lied to me twice, the first salesperson didn't really have a clue about the vehicle and told numerous mis-truths, they told me my deposit was non-refundable (legally it was 100% refundable in my situation, each case may vary however) overall I would say the "used car salesman" sterotype fit these shysters perfectly.
Good luck to you, it's too bad for us buyers that the stealerships have even more leverage because of the limited supply of vehicles. If this was a Camry or 4-Runner we could get it at invoice and get just about any configuration we wanted.
We are merely paying the price for being the early pioneers of the FJ Cruiser craze and this is the trouble some of us must endure.
Admin,
BTW- If you get a chance be sure to check out "King Of Cars" on A&E. It's about the top dealership in Nevada and it's very enlightening and entertaining.

Hi, I have looked for a similar vehicle at local dealers, but they do not have the roof rack. One dealer is also stating that I am getting a great price on my trade in...all most too good, which could be a problem. The car was suppose to be in port on April 19 with delivery shortly after that. The dealer is telling me the problem is with the accessories that I have ordered, i.e., floor mats, spare tire cover, roof rack and rear cargo nets, which is holding up delivery. I am in the Philadelphia area and have been seeing the FJs on the road.
Thanks and I will keep you posted.

Hi All -
I finally got my new black cherry play toy last night, and I do love it. The dealer really did not explain anything about the car and I don't know if the reason is the car is new on the market. I had asked a few questions and he told me to read the manual...ok. So, I wanted to share my happy news with the FJ Cruiser community.
