Let's take a vote. One of these hitches came on the vehicle as it was ordered from Toyota. The other hitch was put on by two yahoo's in their driveway.
Do you know which hitch is which?

Actually either could have been installed by two yahoos in a driveway. Actually, it only took one yahoo to do it in about 20 minutes with the Toyota brand hitch. I received mine from a mail order Toyota dealer for $138.45 + shipping in NC last week and put it on Saturday. The #1 is a brand X and # 2 is a Toyota part. Only need some metric sockets and a torque wrench to do it right. What's the point of the question?

No point really, just getting opinions about which hitch you would suspect was factory installed as ordered by the dealer and which one was "aftermarket" and hoping to get some owners opinions about which one was on their vehicle when they picked it off the lot or ordered it.

The Toyota kit is well made and designed for the truck. Goes on with 6 bolts and they even have thread locking compound on them (Locktite?) No holes to drill and included the notched out trim plate to replace std issue. Made in Canada, BTW, three stickers in three different languages telling you it's a class III hitch. Instructions are excellent and even a dealer's monkey coud do it. Another comment about the so called bumper... Pure decoration, in my opinion. The actual rear bumper is the last cross member of the frame and all that plastic is just a cover over it. So if you ever get hit from behind at more that 1-2 MPH, I would expect some damage to the stuff under the bumper cover and it would probably destroy the plastic. The good part is that the plastic would be easy to replace as it just snaps & bolts on. I think that some after market bumpers are in my future at some point.

I say hitch #1 came from the store and hitch #2 came on the FJ from Toyota.
