I've got you ALL beat... #34686!!! My super faithful '98 Tacoma finally left me stranded in BFE on August 22 at 8am, while at work. I rode with a co-worker in a company truck to 2 dealerships and 3 parts shops, and spent a couple hours under the hood trying to bring "him" back to life. Finally, after bypassing my roasted 80-amp alternator fuse with a ring off my key chain, I got my Tacoma started and quickly drove to the nearest dealership, only to find out that "he" needed a new wiring harness for $1,100 plus labor and rental car etc. etc. etc.. "He" only had 270,554 miles on "him". That's nothing for a Toyota. I'd been eyeing a beautiful voodoo blue '07 FJ, 4x4, 5sp auto, loaded, just like what I'd researched on line, sitting on the lot during a visit earlier in the day. I'd decided weeks ago to wait at least a year to let some bugs get worked out and save up some money (yeah, RIGHT!). At 2pm, I grabbed a salesman and told him I wanted to "talk numbers" on the FJ. He tried to give me a pitch, and I stopped him and told him I probably knew more about this FJ than he did. (I was right.) We drove it, sat down, talked numbers, and I drove out of there at 5:15pm with my new FJ! Poor little, old Tacoma... (snif-snif) Only $2,500 trade-in. I paid about $29,500 for the FJ, said and done. I've now refinanced my FJ (after taking it in the rear at the dealership on original financing), and I'm getting to "know" "him". I'm not completely over my Tacoma, but I'm getting there. I sure love my FJ!!! #34686!!!
