If I got the Toyota hitch from the dealer is it supposed to come with the wiring harness? I thought this was what I was getting, but got no wiring for my boat trailer?

Nope. The wiring harness is extra. The stock set-up is still way better than any aftermarket stuff. A bit overpriced (like all factory accessories) but this is the only factory thing that I'd add over aftermarket.

Most dealers install both the hitch and the wiring harness together.

The dealer I got my Fj from charged me about $380 for the hitch, I thought I was getting the wiring harness too? Was there some sort of screw up on their part or was I just too excited about getting the car and I should have made sure? Seems like alot more than list even if you assume I am paying for installation, doesn't it?
Is this another case of screwed by the dealer?

When I first looked at my factory hitch I also thought they forgot the wiring harness. Take a closer look. Its not a round 6 0r 7 connector multiplug sitting out proud like you'd see on a Tahoe. There's a little cutout in the skidplate underneath and a simple little 4-wire harness connection with a rubber boot over it. You can't see it from the back. Looks like something you'd get at U-Haul. Since its just a 4-wire connection you will NOT have a brake controller unless you add it separately. Just lights.
