No real mods yet. We were looking at the rough country lifts. The 6 inch looks good and no cutting. They also have a 3 inch lift that looks pretty good.

Even dealers are selling FJs that sre lifted,with aftermarket bumpers, wheels, tires,etc.It will NOT void your warranty.I even told my service writer about the A-TRAC hack and he said not to worry.They knew someone would eventually figure it out.I'm running O.M.E.coiloversin front and O.M.E. shocks with Toytec springs in the rear.It makes for a great system.

I was actually looking into raising today... The worker at the store.. ORW said anything past 4 inches would pretty much void factory warranty..Going along the lines of having to trim or cut the vehicle. Now that makes sense. I am thinking of a SKYJACKER 3"lift, with a 33" diameter tire. staying with the 17" rim and going no more than 8" deep. that should keep me within my limits the guy said...we'll see.. im just worried about cost right now.
but i agree..would definately like to see what the actual difference is..Id hate to waste my money on the lift and have a bad turnout..or not a big difference

I have been doing a lot of research online regarding lifts as well. I have really liked the Rough Country lifts the best. They seem to be really easy to install and give the best bang for your buck. I have not read anything negative about them yet. I will probably go with the 6 inch when I do make the investment in a lift, might as well go all out! I plan on installing a leveling kit for the front soon, will likely use the spacers that do not require a coil compressor, I don't want to put my eye out. I also will be doing it myself, so ease of installation is a must.

The warranty will only be void if the lift causes the defect. For example, I've cut frame pieces off, modified the inner steel wheel wells, and I'm about 7.5" taller than stock. I have a 3" lift that actually measures close to 4", and the 37" tires make up the rest. I broke my rear axle about a month ago. I didn't even bother trying to get it fixed under warrenty, because I know they would deny it because of the size of the tires. Bigger tires put more stress on drivetrain parts. But my serpentine belt pully started to make nasty noises, so I brought it in for that. After I pushed my way through the crowd of mechanics staring at the truck, The guy at the counter had no problems covering that part under warrenty. So, if you cut the roof off, and install a 15" lift with 42" tires, they cannot refuse your warrenty claim for a seatbelt that malfunctions. Make sense? Anyways, heres my 3" lift with 37" tires parked next to a stock truck...
