Greetings:

Well If your gonna get an FJ then I would hurry as Toyota has discontinued it! Yeah I know sad sad sad. If the majority of your driving is going to be on pavement then get the automatic. It's better fuel economy is a plus. The manual is full time 4 wheel drive.

Happy muddin

Oh yeah check out the web site I'm messin with.

I have the automatic too, when I test drove the manual I felt like I was always shifting and with six gears it was distracting, plus with the family in the car it is nice to have one less thing to concentrate on. Plus, you're more likely to find an automatic tranny used in the future than the manual because there are more of them. I love the auto tranny especially when it brakes on hills if I don't touch the gas.

I'm actually in charge of a City fleet of over 400 vehicles and I purchased the automativ tranny because of its overall durability and ease of use. I've been off roading, sand dunes, long travels, and I've been very impressed with how flexible this vehicle can be and the shifting of the automatic low gears is very respondsive... all a matter of personal choice, but I just LOVE my FJ...

Hey buddy I have the auto and have had it out in the Utah desert and not one problem. If you do some rock climbing then go manuel but the convinance of the auto is worry free. When I tryed the FJ out I tried a manuel and that is just one more thing you have to do driving down the road instead of seeing all the sites along the ride. I'm approching 20,000 miles and nothing but fun. Greates ride I have had. Tain
