If you do that your making a big mistake. But if your a mechanic with a boatload of spare cash then it is America isn't it? Remember this, your FJ was made entirely in Japan, the class of workmanship and pride in their product is unparelled. I also own an 03 2wd Tundra. Assembled in the US and it's easy to tell. The fit and finish wasn't as precise and some things fell apart after a couple months. I don't think the folks at GM share the same standards as the people at Toyota. I put a 3" lift in mine and it's perfect. All together with the cost of installation it was around $450. The ride (which is one reason I love my FJ) was unchanged. Your FJ is reliable is the H2? I'm pretty confident that you will be able to get a lot of great deals on used H2's in the coming months as people try to dump them while they still have some value. But remember this is all one mans opinion, you do what's best for you.

Whoa! Haven't checked this in a while, lots of comments.... As far as my height, I'm 5'10". I just love the imposing size of the HUMMERS, thats why I was interested in them, and the fact that the only thing I don't like with the FJ, is that is doesnt have the 4 Full-Size doors! So when I'm taking friends places, or we take a trip.... people clunk their heads trying to squeeze into the back! But with respect to the FJ, I did test drive an Xterra before I bought the FJ, and even with its 4 Full Doors, it had less room and was harder to get into than the FJ!
But yeah, I decided to keep my FJ, Toyota is the best with reliability, and with a lift, it should be pretty badass!

The H2 is sixty-four hundred pounds of junk.They're ungainly,too big for wheeling,terrible fit and finish,and downright ugly. Since production began,they have been number one in most problems per vehicle in any class. Even 50% of all the military HUMVEE's are in service at any given time. Any decent fabricator could rig up some brackets to lift the seats if that's a problem.

I think he's referring to actual road height. Sounds like you're all about the look and that's ok...trick it out. You can do some great things with an FJ. Big wheels, skinny tires.
Off-roading isn't for everyone. Myself, I've only been to a few newbie runs because I can't afford to crunch my daily driver just yet. Next year and the year after, I will continue to modify as I get into another daily driver and this Shortbus becomes my full-time toy! I can't wait!
I think a lift kit is in your near future!
