First impressions; (i.e. the first six hours): The FJ is much better on the Interstate and at speed than the TJ. It’s also quicker in and around town! Quieter, smoother, peppier, etc.. The stereo (JBL/TOYO) is a killer and sounds great. The engine seems to have a good feel and adequate power, for an automatic (manual driver). Visibility is very good, relative to a TJ with a hardtop; no complaints there. Dash, instruments, etc. are fine. The dash/glove box/compartment on the driver’s side is awesome. It’ll take my glasses and phone with room to spare. The mats (all weather) are very good and are very sticky on the top; problem is that they don’t stick very well on the bottom and scoot/slide around a lot. Possibly I can work on that. My long legs were a problem until I learned to slide the seat all the way back and tilt the wheel all the way up, prior to exiting the FJ. When getting back in, it doesn’t bang my knees and I can then scoot it back to the desired level. The FJ “feels” only slightly bigger than the TJ when parking , etc.. All in all, I like it a lot..
One negative however. There seems to be a roar/rattle in the back. It “sort-a” seems like its tire/wheel/running gear problems as it appears to emanate from that area. It may even be tire BFG RT related. It doesn’t do it all the time and the road service does seem to play a part. Anyone experience this?
Other issue, mentioned quite a lot.; Problems with 5’3” wife access while wearing a dress or skirt. I think a small shuttle drivers stool might work and save ne $990!.. Ron
