Hey all, is there any value in purchasing an OBDII to USB cable and running the software on my laptop for diagnosing my FJ?
I just gave the dealership $200 bucks to plug my Echo into their computer for them to tell me that I had a problem with a sensor that really wasn't very serious. I'm thinking down the road, since I own two OBDII compliant vehicles, might be worth the investment.
What are the pit-falls of such a setup?

I don't know much about the costs to buy the system.
But many places will connect it for free. I think PepBoys and several other auto parts stores will do it for no charge.
I've also had several friends get free readings from auto dealers.
