I am looking to get a bike rack for my FJ. I want to avoid the top mounted models ( causes problems parking). I was thniknig of the Thule 963, it attaches to the spare tire). Any thoughts or suggestions???????

There's a bike rack adapter for the roof rack, and one for the trailer hitch.
If you don't have either, the unit you're talking about here may be your only option as far as I know.
Let us know how you make out.

I think the hitch one is a lot more money ( I need the one that swings away, to access the trunk)

just found a much better rack, same concept as the Thule, but made by Yakima ( called Spare Joe). Easier to take on/off about $100 cheaper.

I just purchased a Thule 998 Trailblazer. It attaches to the trailer hitch/ with a lock. It holds 4 bikes. It is a swing away rack that will allow you to open the rear door with the bikes attached. It also has a self container bike locking cable system with the lock. Retails for $409 I purchased it from the Sports Authority for $345. It works great, while it costs a little more it is worth every dollar for the swing away future and locks.
