Check these things out if you don't really like the look/feel of the factory plastic shift handle. I am going to have to get one!! http://www.rocknob.com/frameroot.html

Woo Hoo, got it today and it looks awesome! THe little rock fits in your hand perfect! I ended up cutting a bit off the steel shift rod (at the shoulder where it goes from the thin threaded part to the thicker main length) cause I didnt' want the thing suspended way up in the air, that and the original one is wy too high/protrudes to much and gets in the way of stuff or something. Pics in the morning in the Photo Gallery!

I wanna see those pics! Being a geologist with a drill and masonry bits, I've made my own for my Tacomas. I go out and find just the perfect rock, then carefully drill almost (3/8" less than...) all the way through it with masonry (carbide-tipped) bits starting with 1/8" and increasing in 1/8" increments until I'm just a little larger than the shifter threads. Then I lightly (but not too lightly) grease the shifter threads with a heavy grease, shmoo-up the inside of the rock with quick-set JB Weld (but not so much that it squirts out all over), and slap that bad boy on there just the way I want it! Get it right 'cause JB Weld won't let you do it twice! The grease keeps the JB Weld from permanantly adhering to the shifter threads. It forms a mold around the threads so the knob is solid, but can be removed/unscrewed (usually ). It's worked well for me. I'm currently looking for 2 new rocks for my new FJ's auto tranny and transfer case shift levers. When I find them, I photo-document the process and post them.

I want some diamond shifters (auto trans and 4x4) so if you just happen to find some really big diamonds, make me some shifters out of them
