Hi, I am back in Italy for a few weeks, and I was very surprised to see what looked like a FJ cruiser parked near a mountain road here. I stopped my car to have a look and it was a real FJ Cruiser indeed!
I had a look at the italian Toyota website but there was no clue of a FJ Cruiser. I made a search on the internet and I found this:
It seems they unofficially import the FJs in Europe. Have a look at the prices:
Automatic 4WD *base* model: 43550EUR (should include VAT) + 1550EUR for the papers. This translates to almost 67000USD for a base model!!! Crazy.
Anyway, I noticed something interesting: it is possible to add a "Liquified Petroleum Gas" mod http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquefied_petroleum_gas to save a LOT on fuel expenses. It requires supplementary tanks and a special circuit, but it works well on many cars. This mod is quite common on cars in Europe, some even use Methane to have even better fuel prices.
Is this possible at all in the USA?

Well, I'm sure the there are a very few Italians that own these, chances are it was an American. There are several thousand Americans stationed in Italy in the Army, Air Force, and Navy. Chances are it belonged to one of them, but possibly and Italian. As for the LPG, I don't have a clue about that. I live in Germany, and they tend to use the usual gas.

haha if thats the case Im selling mine. I paid 23,000 for mine top of the line 4 wheel auto matic with extras. Armys sending me to germany and bringing my fj with me for free
