I recently sold my Chrysler minivan that was FlexFuel ready so that I could buy something more fun to drive. I have been paying $1.09 per gallon for E85 at a local station that carries it. Filling the tank for 30 something rather than $50 something is really nice.

I have figured that having an E85 vehicle will save about $5,500 over 150,000.

There is a site called change2e85.com that sells conversion kits that work with the on-board computer to adjust for e85 use. They have a kit for Toyota's.

Has any one tried this with their FJ? The opinions about this on the net are quite varied to say the least.

Thanks!

Ooops... make that $2.09 per gallon. Still a great deal, but an indicator that I need some sleep.

Wow, that would be really great if it would. I haven't looked into it, but I'm not sure where you're from, but here in Tampa Fl there aren't any e85 blend stations around...

But I am really interested in this. I'm going to research it, and let ya know

We live in the Denver Metro area. A local chain of C-stores is putting e85 pumps and so it is getting very convenient.

Check out www.e85fuel.com to find a station near you.

I checked out the " change2e85 " and will probably install the kit. There are only 2-3 stations in Ontario that sell E85 but I learned that a UPI station will be opening in the Oshawa-Toronto area. GM has a big plant in Oshawa that makes lots of Flex Fuel cars, they just can't fill up anywhere close. If that's true and it works out well, I'll install one on my wife's FJ as well (mine is blue, her's is black). let you know what happens
