Has anyone had the chance to drive in the white stuff yet?
With all of the talk of NOT driving an automatic in 4WD on dry pavement, I was wondering how the car might handle a snow covered road in the various drives? Also have been thinking about stock tires vs snow tires...

I was in some of the white stuff last may. It was high in the mountains, and just some patches. I was goofing off, so I was flooring it through the patches. It just confused the hell out of the traction control.
My guess, after driving in quite a lot of loose gravel, is that it will work very nicley on a snow covered road. I don't know when I will be able to test that theary, though. Contrary to popular belief, not all of Canada gets covered in snow. I VERY rarely see any snow at all here.

WHAT? no snow in Canada? What part do you live in? the Miami part?

Do wet leaves count? There are a zillion of those on my drive every day... It gets interesting.

I'm in Victoria. Southwest BC rarely gets snow. In the cities, anwyay. We have some pretty big mountains around here. I've heard that Mt.Washington, here on Vancouver Island, gets the most snow on any ski hill in North America. Kinda cool that you can go surfing, and skiing in the same day.

We had our first snowfall in Calgary, Alberta a couple of days ago. City roads were covered and fj handled great. In 2wd the traction control held its own. Its actually pretty difficult to break loose the back end with the traction control. The beeping when the ATrac engages is kind of anoying though.
In 4wd it handles the corners like the roads were dry. Ice is a bit of a different story. The stock allseasons get pretty hard and don't grip that well on ice. Unless you'll be on ice quite a bit the stock tires are fine for winter driving.
