I bought the rack used for 75 bux. It didn't come with cross bars. The stock rack isn't really usable, anyways. I just think it looks a bit funny with nothing on the top, and I didn't like the look of the full rack. There are very small holes where the top part of the rack would attach to the bottom part. You wouldn't even know they were there unless you were really looking for them. Even then, it would be hard to spot them.
The rack on the back was built by me. I welded it up with some scrap steel left over from other projects. It mounts into the receiver hitch. I can sit on top of it when it's fully loaded, so I'd guess that's about 270 lbs. That's 100 lbs of water, fuel, and beer, and 170 lbs of me.
As for the back tire mount weight... I made an adapter out of 1/4" steel to fit my 37" tire on there. It weighs about 150 lbs or so. Seems to be doing fine.
Oh, and no cutting or welding of the rack. There is an "H" connector at the back center that either needs to be modified, or what I did was found a section of aluminum that juuust fits over top. I sleeved it and hit it with some black paint.
