Just wanted to let you that the problem was a small leak somewhere in the emissions system.Of course the service writer couldn't tell me where exactly, but it's back to normal.By the way, I told him about the hack and he said it would not affect the warranty.

Good to know. I have an AT 4x4 with the backup sensor, rear diff and now the A-Trac hack (until I get the button). I was wondering about the other wiring because I want to add some speakers and poss a power outlet in the rear for camping and what not. But thanks for the info. Does any one know of a power inverter that is not too expensive but worth the time of buying and installing?
Thanks, Robert

Thanks, Robert It really depends on what you want to run with the inverter. You need to find the amperage the device draws. You then multiply that number by 12 volts, and you get the wattage. (you might want to double check that). So, a 7 amp grinder would draw 84 watts. A hair dryer would use between 1000 and 1500 watts. Keep in mind, your battery won't last long powering anything through an inverter. You are much better off with a generator.

As far as inverters go, I would stick with one that can be moved around (other vehicles, friends, etc). I have a Coleman 400 watt. It came with a 12” cord with plug and the battery hookups. I think I paid $30-$35 for it. It works good and I have run it for 16 hours straight before without any problems. If the cord is not long enough on the appliance I would get an extension cord for the 12V plug. You could also install a 12V plug in the back.

I have just experienced the exact same thing on my 2007 FJ with just over 15K on the dial. Please let me know where you get with yours, I'm very concerned and will be visiting my local Toyota dealer promply seeking a valid explanation.
I recently returned from an offroad excurison on the beaches and very wet offroads of Cape Hatteras, NC. The vehicle returned intact and operating normally. I checked all vitals upon returning including above and undercarriage fluids while doing the usual visual. The only thing I can concluded is that some salt water may have made it's way past the ABS box located under the rear tail. It's a onerous looking thing and is exposed to all elements with only a plastic casing. HMMM?
BTW I am operating a 6speed tranny and yes it is in normal highway operating mode. At least I know how to do that. The owners' manual is about as confusing as you can get.
Let me know how it works out.
