I am getting about 13 miles to the gallon and I baby the darn thing. I have had it for about a year and I have 6900 miles on it so the break-in should be done with and I should see better MPG but alas, I dont see it. I have 285 mud tires and a 3 inch lift ARB roof Rack also that may pull some drag in the wind but I would think I would see better MPG.
Please let me know what kind of MPG everyone is getting.

Pretty much OK with the mileage on my FJ. Got about 3000 miles on a 2008. Changed to Mobil-1 0-20w after 1000m. Do 70% city, 30% highway. Try to keep the rpm's under 2000, drive no faster than 60/65mph. This can be kind of hard but my last three tankfulls delivered 18.3, 18.6 and 17.6 mpg. This mileage was checked in March and I'm hoping it gets a little better in the warmer months.

I got 21 MPG last summer on a road trip, and I left it in 4 by accident a few times on hills, I changed to full synthetic at 12,000 miles, and got 18mpg all winter in 15-40F weather in town and hwy mix. I try to run 65 instead of 70, still have the original tires. I expect to get 21 city/24hwy this summer.Remember the taller the rig, the more air resistance from the undercarraige, the larger the tires, the more rotating weight you have to move(torque). It's surprising how much difference a little mod can make. For the most mpg, smaller tires, lower stance, fewer accessories in the wind.

LOL Man, I am glad I didnt go with the 6"ProComp lift and the 35's that I wanted. I just took it to Toyota of Dallas and the guys seem to think its the 3" lift and the 285's ProComp MT's I'm running on it. Is there anyone out there with a lift and mud tires that is getting bad MPG?
