I've been debating the same thing. I actually measured the clearance with the wheel turned approx. 45 degrees. There is less than one inch from my stock 265's. The 285 add an inch in overall height to the tire so theoretically that would cut my clearance down to less than 1/2". I'm going to stick with the 265's.
