Would it be possible to rig some wiring and lights up when I'm close to something or someone.
I'm deaf and surely could use lights instead of sound.

Shouldn't be too difficult to do. Too bad I'm so far away.

I would bet that you could find the sensor speaker and run a led to your dash from it that would blink instead of the sensor speaker, or depending on the impedence, you may be able to run it in series and have both of them.

Where would that be? I would not be find it by hearing the speaker unless its mega big speaker.
However, you're right. Sounds like a good idea. I'll find ways to see if i could do LED.

Not sure on its exact location but you should be able to trace it from the switch in the dash or just look at a wiring diagram - I think there is one on this site in the downloads section (not sure though)
