i bought my fj in aug on last year, so ive had it for about 6 months now. Ive gone through and done all the audio and video and have invested about $8,000... i love it. but i plan on doing a lift kit to it, i only want to go 3 inchs, its just to give it a more agressive look. I plan on putting bigger tires, but im reading some of the specs for the kits, and the show recomended tire size as 33's. Well here is where im getting confused, i already have 33's on there (285/75/R16)... soo i want to run 35's, but i need to know for sure i can fit em with a 3 inch lift... also, i will NOT be off roading in it, so im not worried about any kind of felx and wheel rubbing, cause there wont be a chance too...i drive this 3 days a week to work, and its not my commuter... what lift kit should i look at, i dont want to lose ride quality, or drive abilty, etc.... i plan on changing all 4 shocks at the same time... please reccomend one for me.... thanks..

True your 285's have a diameter of almost 33 in., but when people refer to 33's they are refering to the tread patch width. 285 mm is the width of your current tires. 33 cm is the width of the 33's you are refering to. You can visit the website of most major tire manufacturers for an explaination of tire sizes and they will also give you the dimensions of the tires you are considering. Since this is not your daily driver it may not matter, but be prepaired to lose mpg the wider you go. Hope this helps.

O yea, almost forgot. Your fj was designed to compete with Wranglers and H3's. It was built to be an off road machine. You should not be afraid to take it on the trails. If you use common sense you will not break it. Besides, off road is where the fun is.

when i do the tire conversion, it shows me 32.8" as the conversion..... i would like to run 315/75/r16..... with only a 3 inch lift of so.... when im reading all the specs on the lifts they show a tire size of what im running right now.... soo, i want to be able to justify doing it by bugger tires.... its kinda confusing.... haha... so yeah let me know what u think, i should do.... what lift, & wethet those tires would fit... haha, i had an old cj7 and thats what i used to off road, but im just not to intrested in taking my fj out.... haha...

you have R16 rims so what i would look into are some 33" tall by 12.5 inches wide. I like the wider look. the lift will allow you to turn with out hitting. Also with the wider tires if you offset the rims such as wheel spacers it will look even better/lower your center of gravity.
