Hmm, sounds like you might be a lawyer, EugeneFJ, class action suit Attorney?? LOL I think most people myself included, have come to live with the paint chips. Since the FJ is kinda boxy and squarish, you will get chips in the paint. It is a truck afterall! LOL Check this place out and you can get this stuff to help with the touch up paint. I have used it and it is great stuff http://www.langka.com/ I dont' think this is a Toyota specifi problem, my Honda and VW both had paint chipping problems. Perhaps the rocks are getting harder and are out to get us FJ'ers!

Sounds like you must have a lot of gravel on your roads. I put 19,000 km on my first Cruiser, about half of that on gravel back roads. Not one chip or crack in the winshield. There was a few chips in the paint, but they were all around the wheelwell area. I blame that on my mud tires. All the abuse I put that truck through, and only some tree pin striping. I think it held up quite well.
As for the plastic...I'd rather have that, than carpet that gets all dirty, and you can't clean it.
I don't really see how this is Toyota's fault.

I just noticed today that the paint on the edge of the driver's side door near the handle, is chipped. I definately did not hit another car by accident, and its in such an odd place that I'm pretty sure no one could have hit it while my door was closed. After seeing that I looked around at the rest of the car, mainly the front end, and I've seen no other chips or scratches. But then again, the truck does have only 600 miles on it

My dealer here in Alberta has informed me that chips are a part of Alberta driving and should possibly look at a film similar to the 3m product that's out there. Most chips I have are on the side pillars of the windshield and just below the windshield it's self. Possibly check with your dealer as to getting a colour matched paint pen. I got mine for no charge. Worth checking out any thing for free!
