I thought the H3 was suposed to compete with the FJ. It is under powered and looks cheap. I have driven an H2 and it seemed real good on the road, but I didn't take it offroad due to the 22 inch rims. Still though, I would drive both and you will figure it out for yourself.

What this means to you: With no Ford Bronco or Land Rover Defender on the American market, a production version of the HX would be the only legitimate competitor for the Wrangler. — Daniel Pund, Senior Editor, Detroit
Thats just insulting!

I think you guys have persuaded me that the FJ is the way to go! The only question I have for owners though, is I havent had the chance to test drive one yet! But the thing I loved about the Hummer H2 and H3 is that it sat you up, and gave you that high off the ground feeling, like you owned the road! I was wondering if the FJ Cruiser makes you feel that way! Cause my previous car was a Hyundai Tucson, and thats the reason I got rid of that! Thanks for you help guys!

In answer to your question as to whether or not the FJ gives you the feeling of sitting way up above the road surface, I find that it does so very nicely. This beast,(and I use the term affectionately), may have some visibility problems to the rear and sides, but the view going forward is great. And after all, isn't forward the direction we should all be looking anyway?
So, yes, you do feel like you are riding above the crowd when you're at the wheel of an FJ.

The driver's seat is adjustable up and down, so that's a help. One other little story...
I stopped at the gas station the other day. A guy in an H2 was already there pumping gas. He was trying not to look at me. I proceeded to fill my Cruiser. He would look away when I changed my glance. I finished filling and left. He was still filling.
