Do you think the H4 will stack up to the FJ? I thought HUMMER was superior!

FJvsH2 wrote: I have loved the FJ Cruisers since they came out. But I have been a long-time fan of the Hummer Brand. I recently found out that Hummer is coming out with a compact off-road SUV that is going to compete against the FJ Cruiser, called the HX (which could end up being the H4). It looks awesome, but a lot of people have told me that American-Made Hummer can never compete with the quality of Toyota!
Do you guys think I should wait and see what the New Hummer turns out to be, or go ahead and get my FJ Cruiser!
Let me go off on a limb here. You have come to an FJ forum to find out if anyone would help you decide between an FJ and a hummer. I am going to guess that here, the FJ will win the contest. Now if you go to a hummer forum, the hummer will win. So the question is....what are you looking to buy? An offroad capable vehicle right off the showroom floor, or something with a lot of bling bling. I am not trying to be mean or disrespectful, but it would help to know what you plan on doing with either vehicle. If your planning on offroading, the FJ. If your driving will be to the mall and around town, the hummer. Just my 2 cents.

Having driven nearly everything Hummer, including military, military ambulance, civilian version H-1, and even the luxury mega-toy, the H-6 Players edition, I can tell you that for all around quality, your best bet is the FJ.
For purely off-road, very heavy-duty application, there is nothing that will touch the original, military HUMVEE. The civilian version of the H-1, (I drove the Alpha package), is probably second best. However, neither is fun or even particularly practical to drive for everyday use. With regard to the step-children of the Hummer line, the H-2's and H-3's are junk. While the H-6 is a helluva nice toy, (and at $100k plus, it should be!), it's still not as well made as the FJ.
I own an FJ now, all stock, and have taken it anywhere and everywhere I have wanted to go, with not so much as a hiccup. It has a much more solid feel, and with it's heritage dating back to the FJ40, you know the quality is there. Bottom line, I will still be driving my FJ 10 years from now, (provided I can still afford the gasoline it guzzles), but the H-2's and H-3's, etc. will be languishing in slavage yards by then.
Go with the FJ.

The Hummer is a product of the US military propaganda. It is nowhere near as capable as they would like you to think it is. The newer H-2's, etc, are even worse. They're just a Chevy with a different body on it. If you want something that everyone "thinks" is capable, get a Hummer. If you want something that "IS" capable, get a Toyota. Besides...I read the link... It looks like they have the "looks" all set. But who builds a 4x4 starting with the body? You start with the drivetrain and suspension (something this Hummer thing doesn't even have yet) and the body comes later.
