There was an excellent off-road event last weekend in Pismo Beach, CA - The annual Surf 'n Turf Land Cruiser event brought in Toyota fans from all over the U.S. The most interesting thing was the large number of FJ Cruisers in attendance. I counted over twenty during the two days of sand roosting and luckily I did not see any FJs get stuck in the sand (except for mine, but with the rear locker and 4 Low it only took me about 12 attempts to get myself unstuck).
Anyhow, I am proud to say that I pushed the FJ to the limit out there and only ended up with an interior full of sand and an Airbag Sensor light. I was a bit scared about the airbag sensor, as I had to drive home (about 240 miles) with it on. Luckily, the dealer fixed it under warranty; the cause was a faulty seatbelt tension sensor. It made sense because on one of the last hard-core dune climbs I tried, I bottomed the front end out at the bottom of the dune, which caused me to fly forward and stress out the seatbelt. Anyhow, the FJ handled the entire weekend admirably.
I'm having a problem posting multiple pics, so I'll try to post them separately.
