So its time to put a lift on my Tonka. But, i have a little confusion from the different people that i have talked to telling me different things. Im thinkin about a 3 or 4 inch, but I have heard you cant do a 4. only 3, 5.5 or 6. I have also heard that anything larger than a 3 requires a lot of fab work, custom drivelines and a few other things that i dont have details on. So, the 3 inch sounds a little closer to my price range, however, there are so many different lifts, and thinking about getting one strong enough to hold up my winch bumper when i get one of them. Any suggestions. I have also heard that once you lift it you must shave the front body mounts in order to put 285's on it. could a guy put wheel spacers on it instead or whats up? any ideas suggestions, advice or other wise would be great. THanks Dave.

I'm in the same boat as you, I want to 3" lift it but not chop it. As I understand it if you use 3" spacers you don't have to chop anything and 285's will fit. I have not done mine yet! but soon!

Right on, i had thought about the spacer kit as well, a guy could get it for reasonably cheap, i found one for around $300. the problem with the spacer kit that I have heard is that it only raises your center of gravity, yes you can Increase your tire size giving you even more lift, however the ride i hear is not the same. the suspension is stiff and stability is limited due the the height increase and lack of springs to accommodate the difference. Still up in the air. I am goin to do a little more research, talk to some off road techs next time i am in the city and see whats up. I can keep you posted on the stability of the spacers vs Coil and Strut kits if you'd like as i get the information. thanks for your input. good luck!

Thanks for the input. sounds like a good deal. whats the revtek cost.. and where to find it? I have heard that with spacers the capability off road aint quite the same... something about the flex and wheel drop is limited? have you had any problems with this?
