I have been searching to acquire a new FJ here in Italy. The base price here is over 43,000 Euros more than double the U.S. price. Is there away I can buy an FJ in the U.S. and will it conform to European (Italian) standards and allow me to ship and register the vehicle here to Italy. I previously had a 1971 FJ 40 restored frame up in perfect condition (better than new) and I was forced to ship it back to the U.S. I was unable to register it here since it did not conform to the E.U. requirements. The new FJ vehicle is being imported and sold here by 2 Toyota dealers (although not officially imported by Toyota). Would you know what modifications if any are made in order to conform to the EU laws. The local importers have been less than helpful and so has Toyota. At more than double to U.S. price it makes it impossible for me to acquire the FJ here in Italy. I hope someome can answer my questions. Thank you, RMB

That all depends on what your regulations state. Might be a paperwork detail, as well. I know in Canada, the vehicle needs to be 10-15 years old before you can legally insure, and drive it here if it's imported privately.
