I have a 2007 4wd 6 speed fj that i am thinking of adding a 2.25 in leveling kit to raise the front end and adding 285/70r17 tires on the stock aluminum wheels. Are there any issues that I should be aware of? (i.e. alignment, droping the transfer, other suspension or steering upgrades i'll have to do)Thanks.

I am quoting Runner Ryan on this one but you should be able to put 285's on your rig with no problem without lifting your FJ. Shouldnt have any problems with rubbing at all!

Just had another thought. I was planning to go with 4 285's and keep my 265 spare. If I should have to use the smaller spare for a few days until I could replace a busted 285, would this screw up my traction control system? Would like to retain the stock spare cover to keep the spare from dry rotting and also save a few $'s. There is about 1 in. difference in diameter.

first: this should be in exterior not performance under the hood...even though theoretically the front suspension IS under the hood

second: you cant go wrong with the old man emu kit front and rear for your lift

third: should take about two hours with a buddy and you will need a front end allignment as your chamber will be off and look interesting..side note runner did you get urs done yet?...going back

fourth: you can fit your 285's (33's) if the front end is stock..no bumper no winch...etc maybe just a bumper if your lucky

fifth: NEVER EVER PUT A SPACER LIFT ON IF YOUR GOING TO TAKE IT OFF ROAD...you will...eat cv joints..not fun

sixth: you might as well not even keep the 265 (31) as a spair unless you like to watch a perfectally good traction control system start to smoake...you have tree options

a) hope to whatever god you believe in that you dont get a flat in the rear (insert joke here)

b)get the flat wherever you like and disconnect the trac control to get you home

c)change out the tires till your smaller inferior spair is in the front...even then you truck will pull in that direction

so basically cough out the extra couple hundred a get the right tire

seventh: you tire shouldn't dry rot if you rotate your tires on a normal schedule...its in your handbook

hope i covered everything and then some....let me know
