Just got (end of July) an 07 model (MT), is the hack to have both the a-trac and the rear locker on at the same time still a necessity? Is there a sure way of knowing?

Saw some posts here and elsewhere that say that late 07 models don't require the hack, but it seems that the new 08 models need the new all-terrain package to get that feature, so that would either mean that this feature was never offered or that it was and Toyota took this out of upgrade package 1/2 and put it on a special package, which seems weird...

go ahead and give it a try to see if yours works or not. Put her in 4 low turn on the A trac and then the diff locker. If your able to run both at the same time then ur good to go. If one canceles out the other then u got some mods to do

So I tried it this morning, and both lights (A-TRAC and lockers) came on and stayed on as I crawled forward. So I suppose I can have both at the same time, if you trust the indicator lights...

Do the indicator lights really cancel one another in the older models?

Yes. On the older models the lights cancel each other out. When you do the mod, they both stay on. The newer 07's don't need the mod, but from what I've heard they need to be made after November of 06 and later. As for the 08's, I think it's just a word game to get more people to buy the extra garbage. I'd be willing to bet they will all work together for 08.

How do you find out when your FJ was made? Is it on the truck or the window sticker?
