There is a dirct connect under the rear end but you still have a realy and circuit protector that has to be installed. Had I known this I would have worked this into the deal on my rig. I did find someone local that will do the whole thing for $300 installed.

I installed my harness, fuses and control boxes in under 10 minutes. The rear part was easy. Just plug it into the existing wiring in the back, and bolt the plug to a factory threaded hole. The fuses go into marked spots in the fuse box under the hood. Same with the relay. Then there's a control box that plugs into existing wiring under the dash. Other than it was a little difficult to twisy myself into the desired position, it was simple to do.

If you buy aftermarket, you will have to tap into the rear tail lights, and install the converter box to allow the trailer lights to operate with one bulb, as opposed to the seperate turn/brake bulbs in the truck.

I was able to find someone local that will install the hitch and harness for $300. It is not a toyota harness and it plugs into the wires at the split and has ths control module inline. If the harnes is as easy as Ryan says, I may just do it myself.

I did it myself with a factory hitch/wiring package from Rusty Wallace and it was a breeze. The instructions are easy to follow. Some of the wiring is already built in to the truck but kit includes the relays and connectors so the package is really a pretty good deal for $250. If you are moderately handy with tools you won't have a problem doing this yourself.
