Went on a recent 200 k drive and did mileage check. This is the first "extended" trip I have had so my first real op. for a check. According to my calculations my FJ (just on the 200 K trip) burned 21.7 liters. I am not a math major but that comes out to be about 10.9 liters/100 km. This is somewhere in the vicinity of 26 mpg (imperial gallon). Wow, I couldn't believe it. I was expecting no higher than 20. FYI, I was burning high octane and driving around 105 km/hr. Is my math wrong or did I just get another reason to love my FJ?? PS. I was bucking a fairly stiff wind for about 20 % of the trip and there were some hills on the journey.

I think it is possible. I burn 92 octane with ethanol and I recently traveled 354 miles. I filled it up and put in 15.9 gallons, which correlates to 22.3 mpg. Much of that tank was spent in town and on short bursts to/from work. I was pleased and will continue to track it when I get a chance to burn a tank where I can set the cruise and let her rip.

The math may be off my some rounding, but that's about right depending on the terrain, load, and the speed.

Thats great to hear that people are getting better MPG than the sticker shows.
Do you hvae any modificaions that would help improve mileage (ie - air intake or exhaust)?

I think slow speeds helps? I'm getting about 18 to the gallon.
