I bought my FJ in August 07 and now have at least 40-50 white specs on the hood and pillars. I contacted Toyota and they say contact the dealership. I spoke to them and they say chips are a part of life. They reccomended I touch them up and put some kind of clear protector on such as the 3M film. I do not consider that suggestion good customer service. So far all miles are highway miles. I feel the paint chips are excessive. I am very dissapointed with my dealership. It seems it is always someone elses problem.

I think this may help for paint and windshield chips even though i feel these are manufacturer defects: I got tired of the chip and cracks and replacing my windshield. i got clear plastic film put on my windshield for 106 dollars. so far well worth the investment. it is the same film they use to protect headlights and the paint on the front of vehicles.FYI: it is called the invisible bra. 3m, clearshield and venture tape among others make it. make sure to ask for venture tape because it has superior visual clarity for your windshield unlike the other brands that are a little "foggy". of course this was never made for windshields but it works and performs for me.
