Am picking up my FJ on the 4th. (anbother reason to celebrate.) I understand that the dealer will be pitching both paint sealant and undercoating. I assume that neither of these does anything useful except add to the dealer's profit. But before I tell them (nicely) to shove it, I thought I'd confer with you folks. Advice? TIA.

Supposedly they do that coating at the port not at the dealership. So if its laready on there then you're stuck with it. I had to keep looking for one without it. Maybe up north with rough winters and salt treated roads its useful.
That's my understanding of it though.

My FJ does NOT have the upgraded "toyo guard" $699.00 package and I have a rubberized undercoating on my wheel wells and maybe even elsewhere, but it was hard to tell, the last time I was under my FJ all I could see was mud
I've also been told and read that the paint protection is a waste of money. The undercoating maybe a waste of money, depending on how you are going to use your FJ and the price of the undercoating.
My opinion is skip them both. Have you seen the movie "Fargo"? A great comedy bit in there about paint protection.

Thanks to both of you for your advice. I'll be passing on these offerings. (I did see Fargo but I've "Fargotten" the bit. Will have to catch it at home sometime.)
