I run 91+ octane in mine and I am getting 24.39 MPG When I was running the 87 octane, I got 20.8 or so. So the extra $3 to fill it with premium is worth it in my case!

I also get much better milage with higher octane. And it's a large drop in power with the lower octane. You won't get any pinging (detonation) because it will retard the timing, causing loss of power, and loss of economy.

Based on all the posts I really expected to see and feel a difference with the lower octane fuels but doing the driving I perform, which is very consistent, I have not calculated a significant difference or felt a loss of power. Possibly a difference in the quality of fuel in different parts of the county or altitude could explain the differnt results owners report. It's probably worth doing the math to decide whether to use 87 or 93.

It also depends on the company the gas comes from. I try to avoid the no-name places, unless I really have to.
Which brings me to another point... Kinda makes you wonder if you are actually getting the octane they say you are. And how much. How often do they check that the pump is pumping the right amount. I can tell you they go YEARS without making sure they are acurate. How often do they check to make sure the octane is what it says it is. I bet never.
